Linguaskill is a quick and convenient online test to help organizations check the English levels of individuals and groups of candidates, powered by Artificial Intelligence technology. The Reading and Listening module is adaptive, so there is not a fixed number of questions. Each question the candidate answers helps the computer to understand their level better. The test finishes when the candidate has answered enough questions for Linguaskill to identify their level accurately.
The Speaking module is taken using a computer with a microphone and headphones. Questions are presented to the candidate through the computer screen and headphones, and their responses are recorded.
The Writing module asks candidates to input answers using a computer keyboard. Answers are marked automatically by the computer.

Candidates must re-sit components within six months of their original test. For the result of the re-sit to be linked to the original test, it must be taken with the same login. It’s also necessary for the candidate to sit the components under the same Institution

How will my Linguaskill Reading and Listening test be assessed?
The Reading & Listening test is auto marked and results are available immediately.
The results for Reading and Listening are available immediately after the candidate has finished the test.
Writing results will be released when ready and within 48 hours. Typically, 99% of results are available within 12 hours
Speaking results will be released when ready and within 48 hours. Typically, 90% of results are available within 12 hours
In order to provide better support for your testing, we would ask for two days’ notice if you are planning to run sessions larger than 500 candidates. This will allow us to ensure that the correct levels of examiners are available.

The Speaking test is assessed by a hybrid marking model, using either examiners or our market-leading auto-marking technology.
Speaking results are available within 48 hours of the test being submitted.
The Linguaskill Speaking test is a computer-based oral English test that is enhanced by auto-marking technology. In contrast to other automated speaking assessments, Linguaskill speaking takes a hybrid approach to marking, which means the test is marked by a combination of human examiners and auto-marking technology. If the computer indicates low confidence in marking a response, the response is sent to an examiner for marking. This hybrid model combines the latest auto-marking technology with the decision-making of experienced human markers.

All examiners for the Linguaskill speaking test undergo a rigorous training Programme in order to qualify. They must meet high standards of professional requirements, which include being educated to first degree level or equivalent, holding a recognized language teaching qualification, providing proof of substantial and relevant teaching experience within the last two years, and having suitable English language competency.
The examiners undergo extensive training using sample speaking responses with marks, along with detailed commentary and extensive documentation on the marking process. After training, the examiners pass the certification test to ensure high standards of marking accuracy. Examiners are continuously monitored and must undergo training and re-certification every two years.

The Reading & Listening test takes approximately 80 minutes.
The test will not end abruptly but will allow the candidate to complete the task they are on. The test will end once the candidate level has been determined and when the candidate clicks on the arrow to go to the next task.
A strict time limit of 85 minutes can be enforced but we do not recommend this.
The Writing test takes approximately 45 minutes.
The Speaking test takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes, depending on your internet bandwidth.
